Consort Veneto is an Italian group playing on Renaissance instruments and specializing in music of Venice and northeastern Italy in general, from the Middle Ages to the early Baroque. Alvise Cornaro (1484-1566) was born in Venice, but at the young age of fifteen moved to Padua, where he became a champion and protector of the arts with a special passion for music. His "court" became an important center for splendid concerts.
