Then follow the two earlier (and possibly non-authentic) horn concertos, with a scaled-down orchestra. Again we have virtuoso solo playing and ideally pointed accompaniments directed by the Philharmonia Orchestra leader, Christopher Warren-Green. The Divertimento for horn, violin, cello and continuo rounds off a most enjoyable programme which does honour to the wide range and versatility of both the keyed trumpet and horn."
