Klemperer's everlasting legacy is united for the first time: Beethoven and Brahms from Kingsway Hall and Abbey Road with the oriignal London Studio recordsings of the complete sumphonies. Includes seven interesting bonus tracks, feat. Birgit Nilsson a.o. Legendary producer Walter Legge took the best musicians from mostly London based orchestras in order to create a new super-ensemble after WWII, originally intended for studio sessions only. The name: Philharmonia Orchestra London. Some of the world's best conductors shaped this unusual orchestra in the years to come, most significantly Karajan and Klemperer. With their artistic excellence and high recording quality these studio-productions set standards, which are still valid today. When the Beethoven and Brahms-Symphonies on this 10-CD-Box were recorded, Otto Klemperer (1885 - 1975) was already the last "great old man" from the ranks of European conductors who dramatically influenced the artistic life on both sides of the Atlantic beyond the middle of the 20th century. Another reason why these recordings from Kingsway Hall and the Abbey Road Studios are a part of Klemperer's everlasting legacy.

BONUS TRACKS: "Coriolan"-overture, Great Fugue, overture to 'The Creatures of Prometheus", interlude to 'Egmont" (Beethoven), academic festive overture, "tragic" overture (Brahms).
