Over an hour of reflection, contemplation, peace and serenity. This is a musical tribute to the ecumenical community in the village of Taiz, founded by Brother Roger Schutz. The community has been visited by, amongst others, Pope John Paul II, Nelson Mandela & Vaclaw Havel. Music and song are the keys to understanding Taize. A classically trained musician, Brother Roger introduced the form of meditative chant that came to characterise Taiz and which has been taken up by churches worldwide. The Taize songbook states: "Song is one of the most essential elements of worship. Short chants, repeated again and again, give it a meditative character. Using just a few words they express a basic reality of faith, quickly grasped by the mind."
