Another great one has gone and we at AVID have moved this release forward in our schedule as a tribute to the legendary Miss Eartha Kitt.
AVID Easy presents four classic Eartha Kitt albums on a finely re-mastered and low priced double CD.
‘That Bad Eartha’, ‘Down To Eartha’, ‘Thursdays Child’ and ‘St Louis Blues’.
Born Eartha Mae Keith into poverty on a cotton plantation in South Carolina she moved to New York becoming Eartha Kitt and was appearing on the stage for the first time at the tender age of 18. She was later hailed as ‘the most exciting woman in the world’ by none other than Orson Welles. Later while appearing as the star attraction at the Blue Angel nightclub she met Dan Kapp from RCA Victor who promised to record her seriously instead of demanding silly novelty songs others had wanted from her. They went on to record our four featured albums during a golden period between 1953 and 1957 when Eartha finally left the label. Our final album is the classic St Louis Blues featuring Shorty Rogers and his Giants and pays tribute to the writing of WC Handy. And of course it would not be an AVID release without a couple of extras and here we include the classic Santa Baby and its sequel This Year’s Santa Baby.
All four albums have been digitally re-mastered for probably the finest sound quality ever!
